Not to go all Eisenstein, but in the second photo, it looks like the kid's looking at the dude in the hat.

Then you get a reaction shot of the kid, thinking: "How I wish I had that hat."

Then the mother turns and looks, thinking: "Screw the hat, I want that goddamn coat."

Or maybe in all of the shots, they're keeping an eye out for Devil Bunnies, the little bastards.
